Back to normal on Friday 2nd September.
Wantage Fencing Club will be open from 15th October
Finally, everything is in place for us to reopen the club, and fence again. There have been a few false starts, where we hoped it would be possible to start fencing again, but it has not been feasible until now.
We would like to welcome back all our fencers, and anyone new who would like to start to fence with us.
Wantage Fencing Club is a friendly club, meeting in the new Sports Hall at King Alfred’s Academy West Site, Challow Road, Wantage, OX12 9DU on Friday evenings from 730-930pm.
You don’t need your own kit, as the club will provide everything you need to get started.
Wantage Fencing Club has moved into its new venue at the new Sports Hall on King Alfred’s Academy West Site, Challow Road, Wantage, OX12 9DU. We’re very happy there -it’s a fantastic facility, and it’s perfect for the club to grow into.
We’ve changed our hours, too, and will now be meeting from 730-930pm. So you can all have an earlier bedtime, or go to the pub after fencing, whatever you prefer!
Here are a couple of pictures to whet your appetite. If you’re a regular, come and enjoy the new space. If you’ve not been to us before, or not in a while, come and see where we are.

Fencers of all abilities and ages from 8 upwards are welcome. We fence with all three weapons: Foil, Epee and Sabre.
You don’t need your own kit, as the club can provide everything you need to get started.
How much will this cost me?
Our current rates are £5 per week for Primary school aged children, and £8 per week for anyone older than that.
What about Kit?
We can supply all the fencing kit you need for use during our training sessions. If you wish to purchase your own kit, we will happily give you advice to help you purchase the right kit for your needs.
What do I need to bring?
Come dressed in appropriate sports wear- Tshirt, tracksuit bottoms (or leggings) and clean indoor trainers are all you need to fence in- we’ll provide all the specialist kit that you need. Don’t forget something warm to wear after you’ve finished- especially in the winter! Fencing is quite an intensive sport, so we would recommend bringing a drinks bottle. Water is the best drink to put in it!
